Stories of Pet and Family Abuse from Doorways Hotline

In the past month, the Doorways Domestic Violence Hotline has received three calls detailing pet abuse in addition to the violence against their owner. Stories from Doorways hotline:

“The father (Abuser) harmed the entire family for years with threats, intimidation, and physical aggression. It escalated to the point that he killed the dog in front of the woman and their child. He then made the 10 year old son bury the dog in the backyard.”

Doorways new PAWS program offers safe shelter for owners in abusive relationships and their pets. To support this program or for more information, click here.
